Sunburnt in the summer. What else is new?

I need some serious Aloe Vera!!!! My mom took it with her on the family vacation and I am left with none. Yes, that is right. My family is on a family vacation without me. They all miss me way too much (they just told me so over the phone), but I had to work and go to my ward activity. If it weren't for work I probably would have gone and skipped the activity even though I planned it because the fam went to Yellowstone, which I love, and they went white water rafting, which I have wanted to do forever! I am so jealous, my mom said that it was a huge blast, except for the time my dad almost fell out of the raft. My mom said she pulled him back in and saved his life, but he denies this statement. Honestly, I kind of believe him.....if you have seen my mom and my dad you would too.

Back to my insanely red hot sunburn.

The ward activity was in Delta at Brother Toone's cabin on the lake. It ended up being super fun, even though I was ridiculously stressed about it. We went boating, tubing, wave runnering, and all sorts of water fun. I'll start from the beginning....I went up later because work held me up way late, by the time I got there it was darkish and the toads were out. I kissed one, that a couple of the girls had caught, with my fingers crossed that it would turn into my handsome prince....No Dice. Someone took a picture of it though, I definitely need to confiscate it. Anyway, after my toad kissing incident a few of us went swimming to the water trampoline, it was super fun. Night swimming is my favorite ever! The next day was pretty much all boating and it was AMAZING! I got super sunburned though. If you have seen my skin you would not be surprised, I'm more pale than a ghost. I put sunscreen on 3 times that day and I am still super burnt. I don't know why it happens. The day after we hiked up to a rock that looks like the profile of Joseph Smith. It really did look like Joseph Smith's profile, but it was funny that there was a hike up to it and everything. Those were about all of the main events that happened on the trip. I had soooo much fun. I'm mostly excited because I flirted! Again, if you know me, you know how remarkable that is. It was almost like it came naturally too! Wow! I'm almost impressed with myself. During my many driving adventures in Delta I killed 2 birds and ran over 1 cat. I cried on the first bird because it hit right in front of my face and I was so sad. The other two I just screamed and was really sad. If you are a bird you should stay away from me if I am driving a red car (that is the only time that I have hit animals).

So my beautiful friend Shawn started a book club and we have already read a couple of books. The first one that we read was The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, I loved it so much. It is about a girl living in Nazi Germany who is surrendered to a foster agency by her mother so that her children won't starve or be taken by the Nazi's (because she was resistant to the Nazi party). While on her way to her new home she saw her brother die, which is the preface of the book. The narrator is Death. I love that Death is not portrayed as some scary devils slave, but just some spirit with the same thoughts and feelings as anyone else, he just happens to have a very unfortunate job. In the book, Death had a wonderful sense of humor as he told the story of Liesel who learns to read from her new foster father and ends up not being able to resist books. Hence her nick name "Book Thief." I can't say much more about the book, except that it was so hard to put down, and I loved every minute of it. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is almost over. I have two more
shows to do and then I'm done. I'm so sad but at the same time I'm happy! I am going to miss everyone from the show so ridiculously much, but I'm glad to have my life back. They are doing Singing in the Rain some time this next year and I'm totally doing that! I LOVE Singing in the Rain (both the show and the actual singing in the rain!). Gene Kelly is so gorgeous. If he were still alive we would probably be married or something.

On July 14th in Indiana, a man was arrested in a cemetery for taking off is clothes. Apparently, his clothes were wet so he took them off, he then decided to check on his parents graves and wanted to get a closer look at the flowers. An off duty officer was jogging through the cemetery when he saw the naked man and later tracked his naked butt down from his licence plate number. Apparently, the guy wasn't drunk either. He was just weird. People these days. Seriously!

Well Michael Jackson died. I'm not going to say much on this except that if I see it on the news one more time I will have an aneurysm. I'm so over it.

Ouch! My legs hurt so bad!

Go Go Joe!

3300 S. is scary, I’m waiting at the Trax station here and I am a little afraid for my life. This morning my sister needed help to get to the Utah Independent Living Center that is right off of 3300 S. so that she would be able to get here every day without needing a ride, so I was the one that helped her figure it out. However, I was probably not the best candidate since the experience that I have with public transportation in Utah is zero. Jessi has more experience than

me, but it made her feel better that I was there with her so I went and I am very tired becauseI had rehearsal until 1115 in the pm last night and the night before. Boo! Tonight is my last rehearsal until my first performance on Friday though, so I’m excited!

Speaking of the play, I am a little sad because the Monday, Wednesday, Friday cast is sooooo awesome but our directors clearly hate us because every time the Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday cast performs they completely freak out, and whenever we perform they don’t seem nearly as thrilled. Oh well! Apparently, this happened with Shana and Nicole in Footloose and their cast was better, I saw both casts and I can vouch for it. Seriously though, both casts are awesome and whoever is reading this better come to it. Get tickets now because they are selling like hot cakes! Hopefully we have all of our costumes by then because right now we only have about half……

Good Trax is

here and I am feeling a bit safer.

I am so over painting! It is basically all I have been doing for the past 3 weeks. I originally was painting my mom’s room/bathroom (which is big enough t

o house a small village) and Jessi’s room for my mom for Mother’s Day, and then I painted the living room for her birthday. Now, I have painted the other two bathrooms and have committed to repaint Andrea and Angel’s room, the laundry/mud room and all of the doors. I don’t know what I was thinking, don’t ask. I guess I am just a really awesome daughter!

So I have this summer activity coming up for the ward and I am really nervous because it is in about a month and we don’t have a ton planned. I have tried to contact this guy about catering and he says that he will get back to me to let me know if he can do it, but he hasn’t. The committee also needs to come up with some sort of theme that has to do with water. I am drawing a blank; I guess there will be a lot of praying so that we can figure that out.

Just

so everyone knows I am really awesome at tidying! We had to make tidye shirts for the Go Go Go Joseph number in the show and it turned out to be so much fun that Shana and I made a bunch more the next weekend, now I have three and I am really happy about it. Amber’s dad always wears tie-dye, it is like his uniform. I might have to seriously think about taking that up.

So I got this interview with Bonneville Communications as an On-Call PR assistant! I really hope that I do well on the interview so that I can get the job! That would be so awesome for my career! Everyone cross your fingers for me, or pray for me, or something. My interview is on the 24th of June.

Andrea, the little sister, has a boyfriend. Not only a boyfriend, but a boyfriend in High School! That is a big deal when you are in Jr. High. It is weird because when I was her age I either thought that boys were gross or I was afraid to even look in their direction. She even had her first kiss like a year ago, she was 14! It was in the bushes in front of the school (I know pretty lame, but she was 14 right?). Maybe this isn’t a big deal to anyone else on this entire planet, but it is for me considering I didn’t get my first boyfriend (let alone first kiss) until a month before I was 18….but she is hot, so what did I expect. Oh well, Brandon is a really nice kid and he is totally head over heals for my sister and he likes me, so it could definitely be worse.

So you think you can dance is back on and it is AMAZING! I am love the people that they have chosen (which include a dancer specializing in musical theater type of dancing), and I am so excited to see the entire season! Woot!

So, I got offered an internship in New York! The date is June 23rd, however, I don’t have $4,000 (let alone a job) to pay for the expenses to go and live down there until August! It would have been the best month and a half of my life, but I guess it wasn’t supposed to happen. Something better will come along I’m sure…..

I'm not really sure why this post is so boring but I felt really bad that I hadn't posted for a while. Who knows, maybe something interesting will happen soon so that I can blog about it.

Wicked in the springtime

I am so excited about the current weather; it is amazing and I get to wear my new shorts that I got from Old Navy. Even though it hates me because it is going to be bad weather this morning. By the way, I am totally a fan of Old Navy right now. I don’t want to admit my real size, but according to Old Navy I wear a size 4! Size 4 is A LOT smaller than what I usually wear. Anyway, I’m so excited about the weather because I get to go for a motorcycle ride! Yay!!!! I was told that I shouldn’t wear my new shorts when I go, just in case… I’m a little nervous about this “just in case” business.
Today is my last day of classes! Woo Hoo! I have two finals and I am done with the semester. I totally just saw Courtney Collins, on CNN, and her fiancé, Pete Thompson get engaged on air. It was so cute! So, when I graduate and become a news anchor I would like to be proposed to on air, just in case anyone was wondering.
I went to Wicked last night! I am so in love with Wicked I don’t think you even know. I saw it in Chicago a couple of years ago with Kelli and her mom, and it was amazing. The girl that usually played Elphaba wasn’t there that night and we had the understudy. She was insanely amazing! Her voice was amazing and I loved it. My only dream is to see the show with Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, which will never happen, but a girl can dream. Anyway, the show last night was so great! Glinda was so funny, I was laughing so hard it hurt. Elphaba was amazing too, her voice was the best. I think it was better than the first time.
I am also going to the Kate Voegele concert tomorrow with my sister Andrea. I’m super excited because I love Kate and Andrea is so excited to go to her first concert. My Mom is a little worried that Andrea is going to turn into some head banger. She thinks that she is too young to be going to concerts. Andrea is 15. I don’t know what my mom is thinking; Kate Voegele is not even head banger music.
Some of you may already know that I am going to be in the play Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat at Rodger’s Memorial Theater. I am a dancer and Zebulon’s wife. I’m excited because the dances are so much fun and we haven’t even learned the fun dances yet. So, you all had better come to see me starting June 18th on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.
So this Philip Markoff guy that advertised massages on Craigslist is a scary guy. What makes a guy, who is so highly spoken of by his peers and professors, want to do something like kill women? The paper said that it is most likely because of gambling debt, but seriously, there has to be something wrong with his brain to want to kill people for money. His fiancé is convinced that he was framed. He must have brainwashed her because the officials are pretty convinced that it is him. According to the evidence mentioned in the papers it sounds like it would have to be him. He emailed all of these women from his personal computer, and he was seen at the hotels by employees and cameras. A Craigslist CEO said that they are going to try to make Craigslist a safer place to prevent things like this from happening again. I would like to know how they would be able to verify that some of these sellers aren’t psycho killers. Good luck to them with that.
Sorry it was so boring and skiwompus. I can’t think of anything very interesting to talk about. By the way, they still haven’t put any more pink cookies in the machine.

Pink Cookie Day

I am slightly disappointed because there are no more pink cookies in the vending machine. As Jessica would say, I am having a pink cookie day. I guess I have been having a pink cookie day for about a week now, I don’t know why, and I am probably the reason there aren’t any pink cookies in the vending machine but there aren’t and I want a pink cookie. I’m having a pink cookie week!

So I was reading an article in the latest issue of Glamour magazine, which, by the way, has Hannah Montana, or Miley Cyrus, or Destiny Hope (whatever her name is, I get confused) on the cover. She is dumb, and so are her parents. She is dating a 20 year old. What parent lets their 15 year old daughter date a 20 year old? She can’t even drive yet! Am I wrong for thinking that that is weird?
Anyway, I was reading an article about sex trafficking in Argentina and it reminded me of the movie Taken. It was a pretty good movie but there was a lot of neck breaking which makes me cringe every time I hear the cracking so that brought it down on the likability scale for me. It was scary how close to the truth that movie is. I am never going to travel unless I have some sort of personal body guard with me that will beat off the hot guys that are hitting on me but really wanting to kidnap me and make me a hooker. Anyway, on the sex market they basically kidnap these girls, addict them to heroine and sell them on the street or in brothels, or bid out to higher paying clients. I guess where you are “trafficked” depends on how hot you are…..not really sure how that works. Anyway, once the girls are kidnapped it is almost impossible to find them because they are being moved around almost daily.
The article that I was reading is about a girl from Argentina that was kidnapped in 2002 and her mother is still looking for her and is hopeful that her daughter is still alive. Sad! This mother has since started a foundation for girls that she is rescuing as she continues to search for her daughter. She has also fought to get a law against sex and drug trafficking in Argentina. Can you believe that they didn’t even have a law against it? Apparently, in a lot of countries that have high sex trafficking there are corrupt government officials making a ton of money from the industry so they are reluctant to do anything to help these victims and their families. Horrible people!
So, if and once these girls do escape, they are living in constant fear that they will be hurt or killed for “talking.” So, I would highly suggest that you only travel with a massive Britney Spears like body guard and not talk to hot strangers so that you won’t be taken (no pun intended). Good luck to the mother in Argentina trying to find her daughter, I hope she does find her someday.

I am going to a baby shower on Friday and am pretty excited about it. Not only do I get to party with my friends but I also get to go baby shopping!!!! That is probably one of my favorite types of shopping ever! I am not baby hungry (Cam and Geno), I just love to see all of the miniature things that they sell. It is all like clothes I would wear but super small. I love it, Danielle better be excited for what I am going to get her. I tend to go all out!

So I was taking some dreaded phone calls at work the other day and I got this guy asking for a Marriott in Uruguay, we don’t have any Marriott’s in Uruguay but before I could tell him that he all of a sudden decided that my name was hot. McKenna? It is a good name but I wouldn’t say it is necessarily hot…I would go with like Candy, or Roxy, or stripper names like Destiny, or Hope…..(ahem Hannah Montana). Anyway, after he established that my name was hot he asked me where I was and I told him Salt Lake City. “Oooh,” he said. “Are you a Mormon?” I told him yes. Then he asked me how old I was. When I told him that I was 22 and that I wasn’t married he freaked out. “You are a 22 year old Mormon with a hot name and you don’t even have one husband? Don’t you ‘Mormon girls’ get your first husband right out of high school?” Keep in mind throughout this whole conversation that I am supposed to be taking my lunch and that I am trying to tell him that I don’t have any Marriott’s in Uruguay. I wanted to hang up on him but I could get fired so I had to just listen to him gawk at my Mormoness. After we established that only the FLDS men get married to more than one wife he decided to ask me if I am allowed to think people are hot. Yes. Then he wanted to talk about Brangelina in Mr. & Mrs. Smith and how hot they were. Anyway, the phone call was over 30 min long, we didn’t make a reservation, and he made me really bugged. I am so over phones and never want to do them again.

Please vending machine man, I want a pink cookie and will do anything for one.

My third post

I am blogging!
A lot has happened since the last time I wrote. I am back in school taking Math, Radio Production, Graphic Design, The Signpost (Weber’s newspaper), and some computer test that shouldn’t really count as a class because it is just a test. I like working for the school newspaper except for the fact that it is a lot of work and only 2 credits. I also decided to have another major. So now I am majoring in Electronic Media (broadcasting) and Public Relations. A smashing combo!
Anyway, back to “a lot has happened.” My singles ward decided to make me the new activities committee chair person! It is kind of exciting except for the fact that I have to go to a lot of meetings early in the morn, and it is a lot of work. I guess it forces me to go to the activities now….actually, it wont be by force because the activities will be fun, of course.
Along with my new calling, the new person in charge of the music has been made aware by a certain redhead that I can play the violin and I was immediately “invited” to play in front of the ward in sacrament meeting. Personally, I think the ward has heard enough of my string hashing for one lifetime and I thought I was done when the old music person got married and moved away! Que sera sera….
I have a new music obsession, Marié Digby. I would highly recommend checking her out when you have time. Her album is a lot like Kate Voegele but a little more mellow (yellow). I am also slightly obsessed with Sudoku as of late. I think it is amazingly fun to figure out a puzzle (which is why I like math); this satisfies me.
Does anyone feel like they are trying to grow their hair out long and beautiful and when it finally gets somewhat long, the “new trend” is short hair; or if you cut your hair after growing it out for a very long time, the “new trend” is long hair? That is happening to me except I am in the middle of the aforementioned cycle. My hair is long and has a lot of split ends (which are bugging me) and all of the magazines are tempting me with cute short cuts. Plus I hate having my hair so damaged, it is bugging me. Speaking of my hair, my mom wants me to go back to blonde. Besides the fact that it is against tradition to go with light hair for the winter [you are supposed to go dark for winter and light for summer (for those of you who are style illiterate)], I have liked having my dark…ish hair. It is fun and different, but it is super bad for my hair and I feel like I am processing my head off when I do it and I look like I have gray hair when it starts to grow out. I would like to know the opinion of people, other than my mom and grandparents who were very very very very unhappy about my not being blonde anymore. Please take the poll located in the top left-hand side of my page. Or you could give me some other suggestions! That would be fun!
I liked the movie Nick and Nora’s Ultimate Play list, it was funny. I would recommend this movie to anyone with a sense of humor. I wouldn’t call it the funniest movie ever but it is up there. My only complaint is the disgusting barf scene, the gum (partially part of the disgusting barf scene), and feet on the face (which is so not sexy!). You will all understand what I am speaking of after you see the movie. Speaking of funny movies, I love Hot Rod, this movie is too funny! I could watch it all the time. Kudos to my amazing married twin friend, who is not my twin but the unmarried twin friends’ twin, who made me borrow it from her.

Feet are gross and guys shouldn’t wear flip flops for that reason.

I officially suck at having a blog

So I suck at having a blog big time. I am sorry for those many many people who I am keeping entertained by writing this. I haven't gotten my pictures developed from the Kate Voegele concert yet because I had to make my brother bring me a disposable camera because both Amber and I forgot a camera. It was a super fun concert though! We almost had a smack down with some girls that looked like they just broke out of the nearest prep school. They were trying to cut in front of us in line when we were waiting to meet Kate Voegele. We wouldn't let them and they immediately dubbed me the the line Nazi leader and "tattled" on me to one of the opening bands (Like they could do anything about it)! It was cool though because they had to get behind us in the end. Girls are stupid. We also got to meet Peyton in real life, aka Kate's manager (watch One Tree Hill if you don't get that). Amber made him get in the picture with us and he was embarrassed, it was pretty funny! Kelly James was one of the opening acts and he looks like this guy in my ward (like exactly) So he is called Bryce's hotter alter ego (and Bryce is pretty hot so that is a hard accomplishment).

I have become completely occupied with the polygamy subject.....totally not wanting to be a polygamist, but just interested in the subject. I just finished the book Escape by Carolyn Jessop who was the fourth wife of Merrill Jessop, the guy who is running Yearning For Zion, the polygamist compound in Texas. He is a freak and I didn't realize how horrible the conditions are. According to Carolyn's book abuse (sexual, verbal and physical) is accepted toward women and children within the culture because they are doing it out of "love" to make them better followers of the faith. Warren Jeffs is a freak and he deserves prison. Everyone is brainwashed and it is so horrible. Carolyn Jessop is against the raid, however, because it just makes the polygamists more steadfast in their religion because they are so cut off from the world and convinced that we are all evil. Dumb.

I also read a book called A child called "it," by Dave Pelzer. It is one of the saddest books I have read and it is a true story, which is probably the reason why it is so sad. It is about a boy who lived a completely normal life until about like 3 or 4 (I think) when his mother decided to turn into a complete whack job! It started out where she just treated him like crap but it slowly got worse and worse as the years progressed to the point where she was forcing to eat stuff (I won't say what for the sake of the story, but lets just say I literally gagged so many times throughout the book I actually ran to the bathroom). She also makes him wear the same clothes day in and day out without washing them at all. Those are just the mild things she did to him too! The story is told by the boy himself and it is a for sure must read!!!! Do it now! I am in the process of trying to get a hold of the second book of the trilogy so that I can let you all know how that one is.

I love Beto's! Perhaps I am saying this because I am in the middle of a huge quesadilla right now, or perhaps because they are just so fatteningly amazing that I can't stop eating their food! Too bad Natalie is the only friend I have that will go with me to taste their deliciousness!

I just got back from Dallas, Texas! It was so much fun. I went with my mom and bro James for my mom's work conference. James and I got to play the whole time though because my mamma rented us a PT Crusier and a GPS (Global Positioning System, thanks Eric) so that we could get to the museums and stuff. Six Flags was not open and I was very sad, I do love myself a good roller coaster! We stayed at the Gaylord Texan (permission to snicker) in Grapevine. Grapevine is about 30 min from Dallas which was annoying because driving SUCKED! Driving in that area was possibly the most confusing thing I have ever tried to do (besides looking at A-Pax's Chinese homework). I got lost so much and in case you forgot I had a GPS!!!!! How does that happen? I don't know, it could be me, but I think the blame goes to the people that designed those roads down there! The food is amazing though! I did not eat a single bad meal whilst down in the TX. I used to live in San Antonio and I was raised on that kind of food, because it is all they serve in the schools, so going back to enjoy the great tex-mex and barbecue was an amazing treat! PS- Dallas is such a beautiful city. Props to the people who keep it up or whatever because every time I was eating at a restaurant or something I felt like they had taped giant postcards to the windows (it is that pretty). *note to self: when starting my own restaurant tape postcards on the windows unless I am in Dallas.

I have 4 more hours to be here at the workplace and I have already downed a 62 oz. Diet Coke and two water bottles and the drink machine is busted and the other building is closed....and.....I can't leave the premises to get some more caffeine! I'm going to fall asleep. My only hope is to steal from the candy jar from some lady's desk and not wear my jacket so that I will stay cold! It is so cold inside the office because the suckers are on our side and the blowers are on the other side of the wall!!!! That was not thought out...... So, Ritz-Carlton reservations are freezing and Ritz-Carlton gift certificates are frying! Just keep that in mind when you call us and our teeth are chattering.

This is getting boring for you all, so I am going to stop and let you all lead a more interesting life than I am right now. -Peace!

School's out for the summer.....

Things to talk to God about

I am going to Kate Voegele Thursday with my best friend Amber. Kate is really good! Pretty sure no one has heard of her yet but I would highly suggest listening to her music. Her sound is like new Mandy Moore, mixed with Sara Bareilles, mixed with someone else that I can't really think of right now. I want her lips! Mine are thin. Oh well, I'll put that on the list of things I can take up with God. I will let you all know how the concert goes! It'll be fabulous!

This time of year and I have a love hate relationship. It is so pretty! It is no longer drab, and I can finally stop camouflaging with the scenery and my skin can become a darker white. My only complaint is that it is too cold to wear shorts and t-shirts but too warm to wear everything else! I take a jacket or coat with me (1/2 because I love them and they are cute) but I get hot. I take it off and I get cold.... I really don't know what to do about my problem, I guess that's another thing to take up with him.

I am so glad I never had to have braces! I hear they are painful, let alone unsightly. My poor little sisters have them now and my little brother is due to get them within the next six months. My sister just received them Monday and is always in pain, so she says..... Apparently in Thailand it is super trendy for teenagers to wear braces! Kids are walking around with braces on and they don't even need them. That is hilarious....I'd like to meet whomever started that trend. That is all I have to say about that, but there is something I get to thank God for, never having to wear braces and the Thai teens to give me a laugh!

I have nothing else to say tonight because I can't stop thinking about my math homework.
